Dallas/Fort Worth to Tokyo: two nonstop airlines to Haneda

Last checked

Nonstop or connecting?

  • American Airlines flies DFW–Tokyo Haneda (HND) daily on the Boeing 777-300, starting March 29, 2026 [S1].
  • Japan Airlines flies DFW–HND daily (JL011/012) [S2].
  • We found no current DFW–Narita (NRT) nonstop on official pages; check with your airline before booking any DFW–NRT nonstop.
  • Nonstop is the clear default. Both nonstops land at Haneda, the airport closer to central Tokyo.

If you're going beyond Tokyo (to Manila or elsewhere in Asia)

Onward hub useNotes
HND → ManilaJAL flies Tokyo–Manila from both HND and NRT [S3]. Book HND–HND to avoid an airport change.
NRT connectionsIf your onward flight leaves from NRT, JAL lists an NRT↔HND minimum connection of 3h–3h30 (see the hub page). NRT is closed midnight–06:00 with no airside overnight stay.
American's Asia networkAmerican promotes connections across Asia through Japan with JAL [S4].

Alternatives (connecting)

ViaTypical airlinesNotes
LAXAmerican LAX–HND twice daily [S1]; JAL LAX–HND/NRT [S2]Adds a domestic leg; only for schedule or availability.
SFOJAL SFO–HND/NRT [S2]Same.

Which to pick and why

  • Nonstop on American or JAL to Haneda. Pick by schedule, cabin and loyalty program (both are oneworld).
  • US passports: visa-exempt in Japan for up to 90 days (see the Tokyo hub page).
  • Philippine passports: need a Japan visa to enter. Japan discontinued transit visas from July 1, 2026; see the Tokyo hub page.

Pitfalls

  • Don't build a self-transfer from HND to an NRT departure on separate tickets without a large buffer.
  • Haneda to Narita takes time. From our own trips (first-hand experience, not an official figure): allow at least 3 hours for the inter-airport bus. The train isn't direct, and if you miss the last inter-airport bus, a taxi can cost $200 or more. See the Tokyo hub page.
  • Japan's trusted-traveler and arrival procedures (Visit Japan Web) aren't covered here; check with your airline.
