Dallas/Fort Worth to Hong Kong: Cathay's daily nonstop
Last checked
Nonstop or connecting?
- Cathay Pacific flies DFW–Hong Kong nonstop daily. CX875 departs DFW at 22:55 [S1]. Arrival time varies by season (early morning, two calendar days later); check your date.
- Cathay's 2026 trade notice covers added summer 2026 DFW flights [S1]. The details are in Chinese, and the exact added frequencies aren't confirmed; check with your airline.
- Nonstop is the clear default.
Connecting alternatives
| Via | Typical airlines | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Tokyo (HND) | American or JAL DFW–HND daily [S2][S3], then Tokyo–HKG (not confirmed on an official page; check with your airline) | Good for a Japan stopover; US passports get 90 days visa-exempt in Japan. |
| Taipei (TPE) | EVA DFW–TPE nonstop [S4], then TPE–HKG (not confirmed on an official page; check with your airline) | Free Half-Day Tour at TPE for 7–24h layovers. |
| US West Coast | Cathay/American via LAX or SFO (not confirmed on an official page; check with your airline) | Adds a domestic leg. |
If you're going beyond Hong Kong (Manila, Southeast Asia)
- Cathay flies Hong Kong–Manila [S5]. HKG has no published MCT; allow generous time (see the hub page).
- HKG has no airside transit hotel, but it has resting lounges on Level 6, and Cathay's The Pier lounge has resting pods (see the hub page).
Which to pick and why
- Cathay nonstop. One airline, overnight departure from DFW, and an easy onward connection in Hong Kong.
- US passports: 90 days visa-free in Hong Kong. Philippine passports: 14 days visa-free (Hong Kong Immigration Department; see the hub page).
- Mainland China note: US passports are eligible for China's 240-hour visa-free transit. Hong Kong International Airport isn't a mainland port of entry, so the rule doesn't apply to a Hong Kong stop itself, and whether Hong Kong counts as the "third region" for a mainland itinerary isn't confirmed; check with your airline. See China transit guide.
Pitfalls
- The late-night DFW departure plus the time-zone change means you arrive two calendar days later; book hotels for the right date.
- Separate tickets beyond HKG mean collecting and rechecking bags (requires entering Hong Kong).
